This double rainbow was captured yesterday afternoon (8/10/2014) and was photographed from the Promenade in "Glorious" New Brighton and seems to land in a friend's back garden (we have told her to start digging!).
The secondary rainbow is a mirror image of the main rainbow. The dark band between the two rainbows is called the Alexander Band.
This image was taken on a Fuji AX 250, our emergency, car camera.

Your emergency car camera has come in quite handy recently, Steve! The open flat space, the dark sky and the ground colors all enhance this pretty double rainbow. Now..what is your neighbor's address? Just curious. lol!

Steve ... it's always nice to have a camera in the car at all times ... one never know what scene one may encounter. Beautiful double rainbow & so nicely captured. I like the depth you caught too ... makes it all that more grand of a scene. Excellent!

A double lovely image Steve - seems when I try to photograph rainbows, they never look as pretty as I can see with the naked eye. Great capture and good luck to your friend on finding the pot of gold in the backyard - you'll need to photograph it since it probably won't happen for most of us.

Perfectly timed of this double rainbow with such clarity and gorgeous colours. Looks like the company over there has the pot of gold. I love rainbows and they are suppose to be lucky. Brilliant shot, really like the texture & patterns in the sand
