Epilogue to Through the Looking Glass. Lewis Carroll

“In a Wonderland they lie, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream
Lingering in the golden gleam
Life what is it but a dream?”

-----other quotes-----

The King: Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Alice: If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

So this is Wonderland. I could never quite see it from where I sat. My mind wouldn't fit through the hole. I am starting to get a much clearer view. This is really good. Effect is wonderful. Faved.

Ohhhhh a real dreamworld...amazing feeling to this John. I love your quoting from Alice...and I agree with " If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?" Now THAT is MY way of thinkin'!! Love it, and love that you put some poetry here..the creation of yours is just awesome. Verena

Captivating colors. I love the creamy mist. Autumn tones are so inviting. I want to reread Alice now, I seem to relate to her more! Thank you for sharing your creation.

Beautiful image, John. I think this is less nonsense than my real world. LOL. I love the reds and the use of Reflet. Very well done.

"A slow sort of country," said the Queen. "Now here, you see, it takes all the running you can do to keep in the same place."

It's all misty and mysterious... I have several 'dreamworlds' myself, but this one warrants exploring further... I love the lazy ripples on the mirror of the water. If there's a boat nearby maybe I'll meander down the river to see what I can see...

Ah, wonderful image. I've become quite enamored with the whole idea of going through the looking glass since I first saw Alice in Wonderland years ago. Looking at your image, I can just picture Alice wandering through it. I can't wait to see the new Alice in Wonderland coming out-- in March, I believe... Tim Burton directs, starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. The preview BLEW MY MIND!!! It's going to be tripped out, but, that's Tim Burton for ya :)
Again, very nicely done image, thanks for bringing me through the looking glass. :)

"Do you see any Teletubbies in here? Do you see a slender plastic tag clipped to my shirt with my name printed on it? Do you see a little Asian child with a blank expression on his face sitting outside on a mechanical helicopter that shakes when you put quarters in it? No? Well, that's what you see at a toy store. And you must think you're in a toy store, because you're here shopping for an infant named Jeb."

Of Mere Being

"The palm at the end of the mind,
Beyond the last thought, rises
In the bronze distance.

A gold-feathered bird
Sings in the palm, without human meaning,
Without human feeling, a foreign song.

You know then that it is not the reason
That makes us happy or unhappy.
The bird sings. Its feathers shine.

The palm stands on the edge of space.
The wind moves slowly in the branches.
The bird's fire-fangled feathers dangle down."

-- Wallace Stevens, 1954
