The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.
~Thomas Merton

These two, I say, viz. external material things, as the objects of SENSATION, and the operations of our own minds within, as the objects of REFLECTION, are to me the only originals from whence all our ideas take their beginnings.
~John Locke

Thinking is the great enemy of perfection. The habit of profound reflection, I am compelled to say, is the most pernicious of all the habits formed by civilized man.
~Constantinus

John - the dark background and water add much to this photo; the rippling water gives it a contemplative feel. Very well done! Thad

So beautiful Shads. Both the photo and the meaning behind it. You find the most perfect quotes to convey the mood of the photo. The reflection is stunning.

Oh my goodness John..when I first saw this I thought it was a painting! Such beauty you have captured. This is indeed a rare photo with such a unique reflection. I love the manipulation you did to reach that effect. Very very precious. And of course, as always the words you chose to go with this creation are magical."The habit of profound reflection" goes so well with the feeling in the photo creation. I can hardly wait for your next one..you have a way of building my anticipation for sure. Verena

The complementary blue-green background makes the yellow petals 'pop', yet not so much that it overwhelms the composition. The stems add to the framing and the rippling reflection in the water adds a mysterious flair to the overall photograph.

Very nicely shot, the coloring on the flowers are real nice and rich and that reflection is really something else, I am curious was their some kind of HDR program used on this. At any rate it looks supper.
