Because no retreat from the world can mask what is in your face.
Gregory Maguire, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

She comes by night,
in fearsome flight,
in garments black as pitch,
the queen of doom
upon her broom,
the wild and wicked witch.
Jack Prelutsky

Your existence is passing before you. Grains of sand in the hourglass. The Wicked Witch of the West has you in her castle and she's turned the hourglass over and the sand is running through. Will you be liberated or will you die? The only way you can beat death is liberation.

I like how the author came by the name Elphaba. Good tribute.
Yogi (jhihmoac) will like this.
I always wondered what the Land of Oz looked like beyond the "Yellow Brick Road." Now I know.
Off the wall creation and so well done with all your usual components. Works well for SNATM 👍👍

This almost leaves me speechless.... sensational. What an incredible scene you have created. Colors, light and shade, design, patterns, originality...and the outstanding music that you have provided. You honestly should have your own production company, you are unique. Favorite.

John, by checking-out the first link in your narrative, I've read: "Elphaba Thropp, aka the Wicked Witch of the West, is the green-skinned protagonist in the best selling fictional novel titled 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West', published in 1995. The Wicked Witch of the West was originally the antagonist created by author L. Frank Baum from his famous 1900 children's novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and most notably in the iconic 1939 MGM musical film version, The Wizard of Oz; whom Wicked reveals as tragically misunderstood", and so on.
Your, per usual, excellent artwork, quotes, and music links are very appropriate to stay a while in this fantastic (meant literally) world. Helps me to escape me from time to time from the not always friendly or not friendly at all world: "Life has been very hard. If you can hear me when I cannot hear myself ...you could help me do no harm in this world. That's all I want: to do no harm."
