Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five‐year mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before!
Star Trek, The Original Series

You know the greatest danger facing us is ourselves, and irrational fear of the unknown. There is no such thing as the unknown. Only things temporarily hidden, temporarily not understood.
Captain Kirk, Star Trek

Live now; make now always the most precious time. Now will never come again.
Jean‐Luc Picard, Star Trek: The Next Generation

Compassion: that's the one thing no machine ever had. Maybe it's the one thing that keeps men ahead of them.
Dr. McCoy, Star Trek

You may find that having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. This is not logical, but it is often true.
Spock, Star Trek

With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably.
Jean‐Luc Picard, Star Trek: The Next Generation

John, because of the quotes and music links, I assume you're talking about the fictional substance of Dilithium and not the real substance of Dilithium. In this case: I'm not or very little familiar with Star Trek, so I can't give you any substantiated comment. This doesn't alter the fact that your render is once again beautiful one!

Many years ago, as a promo for joining the Science Fiction Book Club, I was allowed to pick 5 books from their catalog for $1 each. One in particular had a thick black vinyl cover and an inside that was arranged like a manual, which in fact was what it was purported to be. A title page was made to look like it was from a federal agency, dedicated to the study of space oddities and UFO reports. The premise was that the contents of this "book" was somehow transmitted to earth from somewhere in our orbit, and was for all intents and purposes a manual for something called "Star Fleet". Inside was a myriad details about ranks, uniforms, "phasers" (and their construction), a wide array of spacecraft, from 6-man shuttles to gigantic space stations, and lots of details about the mission and history of this "Star Fleet". One of the sections dealt with the dilithium crystals and, I swear, when I read it I visualized something that looked a lot like what you have created here, John. Very well done. [Oh, yeah, and as for that book, I kept it on my shelves for about 4 decades and then gave it to the young son of a co-worker, the boy being a mega-trekkie. It went to a good home.

I am not a Star Trek person but this post has made me interested ! And also - those crystals are beautiful ! The quotes are very sensible, especially the one about now never will be again.
Beam me up Scotty ! (apparently this was never said be anyone in Star Trek)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
