Do the gods light this fire in our hearts or does each man's mad desire become his god?
Virgil, The Aeneid

Duty bound, Aeneas, though he struggled with desire to calm and comfort her in all her pain, to speak to her and turn her mind from grief, and though he sighed his heart out, shaken still with love if her, yet took the course heaven gave him and turned back to the fleet.
Publius Vergilius Maro, The Aeneid

Wooden ships on the water, very free and easy
Easy, you know the way it's supposed to be
Silver people on the shoreline, let us be
Talkin' 'bout very free and easy
Horror grips us as we watch you die
All we can do is echo your anguished cries
Stare as all human feelings die
We are leaving, you don't need us

John, by checking-out your links above, we are getting a lesson in or an update on our knowledge of mythology.
After such an update or lesson, I look at how you visualized this. Without exception you command my admiration, all the more so because you not only provide us with a render but also with appropriate quotes/poem and music links.
So not only an excellent main dish, but also tasty side dishes.
I've enjoyed this 'meal'!

To illustrate a story written in the first century BC takes a very special skill. This is a wondrous work !
Poor Virgil, he never finished his epic as he died before he could. He knew he was dying and wanted his work which had taken him 11 years to create, destroyed. Augustus refused

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Beautiful creation, am in awe of not only your photographic skills, but also your knowledge of so many intriguing and insightful aspects of our lives and history. Wish there were a few million folks like you and wish they were all teachers what a better world we would have.
