As if the Sea should part
And show a further Sea‐
And that‐a further‐and the Three
But a presumption be‐
Of Periods of Seas‐
Unvisited of Shores‐
Themselves the Verge of Seas to be‐
Eternity‐is Those‐
Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.
John Masefield, Sea‐Fever

How still,
How strangely still
The water is today,
It is not good
For water
To be so still that way.
Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Crossing the Bar

CloserTo Home (I'm Your Captain), Grand Funk Railroad

Come Sail Away, Styx

Sailing, Christopher Cross

Beautiful.. Sea Fever was one of the first poems I learned by heart. I love the sea - "a wild call and a clear that that may not be denied". Your artwork here perfectly illustrates the words of the Rime you have quoted. The boat bearing your name is a great addition !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
