I believe it's the soft focus and the gentle swirl of the the petals that really makes this image leap out at the viewer. The pistil (or stamen, I forget) on the left is almost incidental to the photo in its placement which is also a big plus. The randomness is well-planned if that makes sense. Now I think that I'd like to see the image with the petals in sharp focus too, so I could see which is better, but this one certainly is excellent. Very Georgis O'Keefe I believe.
The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was, is lost, for none now live who remember it. -Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring
The shallow DOF accentuates the details of the pistil. However, the field of soft whiteness also draws the eye away. The composition is good. There is a small amount of noise that could be cleaned up, but this is an excellent macro shot.
"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." Bertrand Russell
This is the first time I've seen this outstanding macro image. I am wondering what kind of camera you have...to get such detail. This is a passionate title and a magnificient photo of something most of us dont get to see in this sort of detail. Very very lovely!!
