Welllll ... if given the choice, and being bold here ... prefer your earlier version. That of:

"White Rose"

The idea/concept here, is worth pursuing creatively methinks ... just not sure that a selection and removal of the background alone, translates as well as it could? Given the original lighting?

For your creative consideration, then ... another member has embarked on a series of florals ... found here, by doughlas.

If a high key presentation is your artistic aim ... some adjustments, with respect to post processing/editing and that of the original lighting ... might need to be addressed.

/\ Just some thoughts, and of course, my humble opinion.

Have to agree with Les. With a tweeking on the editing side, the rose will stand out better.

In my little opinion, it's too much white on white. But of course, it could because I've been staring at my work computer way too long.

Personally, I prefer the dark background for a shot like this. The first shot has much better contrast.

The white on white is a wee much to me, but that's just me. Nice details and soft color on the flora!!

The picture has a good clearity and color.

But if you want to use a lighter background as in this case, than use the same color as the rose and soften the edges of the petals a bit.

In this case I prefer the black one to, but with some rework on this one it will turn out to be a great shot.
