A lucky shot, the sky was glorious that late afternoon about 2 weeks ago. I hope you can see the beauty above the trees. I'm proud of this one in particular.
Sky, you are right- that is a beautiful sunset. This photo only shows us a glimpse of how lovely it was. You must have had a smile on your face when you saw this. Thanks
This is a very dramatic piece... but (I'll take the "but" first) I'd like the composition a little tighter. You see three trees that all have been cut by the frame. I would have preferred the one in the middle uncut and alone (portrait format) - or - only a bit of one of the trees with the branches filling all of the image like an abstract piece.
But... the background is fantastic with the red in the upper two thirds and blueish-gray in the bottom. And I love the look of the branches in the middle tree. When you look closer they seem to blend with the backgound and each other in a mysterious way.
I think this is a perfect sunset. The colors of the sky really bring a different view of the sunset that we don't get to see everyday. I love the backdrop of the colors and how they frame the trees. Wonderful, just wonderful!! : )
There just isn't much to it. Some red sky and a couple of limbs. You need to show something even if it's just all sky. A distant horizon line would help it. The focus is also off which also detracts from the shot. Sorry I couldn't be more positive but you don't want me lying to you.
I like this one a lot. When I look at it it feels cozy and warm. I like the trees in front of it. I think it makes the whole image more alive and interesting. Nice View.
This is a beauty! and "Digicamman" loves to be opinionated. NEVER mind him.. I bet I can go to his gallery and be negaative about everything.. Prefection is only an imaginary concept..... NOTHING is perfect!! Most EXCELLENT POV and fantastic capture!!!! ... Why? .. I know !
Hello..In comment request you asked how you could better your sunset pictures...the following tips might help....Although you can get good results with automatic camera settings, sunsets are very confusing subjects for many digital cameras. A camera’s automatic white balance will often try to shift all the brilliant reds, oranges and pinks to a more uniform white, which tends to wash out the picture and make it a lot less interesting. So see if your camera has a sunset mode among its various programmed exposure or scene settings. If it does, great — use it
If not, set the white balance manually. Bring a white sheet of paper with you and have someone hold it up in front of the camera right before you start shooting. Use the white balance control to set the white point while you focus on the paper. And if you plan to shoot pictures for a while in the fast-changing lighting conditions, reset the white balance between each set of pictures you take. ....Never point your camera into the sun and always use a tripod....Hope this helps....All the best...Mick.
It's a lovely sunset, but truthefully there aren't very many interesting colors in it (as said before this could be because of your camera.), and the trees are all cut off and hanging. Try having one tree as a center, and if you really want to leave in just a bit of the others try making it more semetrical. I havn't done any sunsets yet, so this is just my opinion. Good job on the picture though, and try using photoshop to center it and improve the coloring. I would reccomend the contrast feature for this.
