If I may make a suggestion, I would go here ... and make mention of your photo above, to my eyes it is a very good example of using diagonals to create visual interest.
There are a few members with some discerning eyes that are engaged in the 'assignments', that might be able to offer up some tips and advice once you make your presence known.
Go on ... don't be shy, this is a good image.
Not a slight against your composition here, more of a suggestion for next time ... curious as what the visual impact would be if you had the receding lines of the the bridge structure placed in the left thirds and 'disappear' into the middle thirds. Using the rule of thirds as a guide to composing.
I make mention of this, as one way to elminate some ... some of the extraneous background structures, like the power lines in the left hand side.
Perhaps, even a lower perspective as well? My thoughts here are to isolate the focal aspects of your image more so. I don't think anything would be lost if you did not include the foreground, for example.
Just some thoughts.
And make no mistake, I think your photo is very intriguing, and belies a natural eye for photography. Without the benefit of actually being there, you composed this very well. My drivel above aside.
Excellent first posts. I took a quick tour of your galleries to date and they are quite good. Hope to see more from your minds' eye and camera.
