O.K. Doug is gonna have a hissy fit with this one, lol. No matter what I did I just couldn't seem to get the shaprness right on this. This was taken at the Mission Concepcion her in San Antonio. This is a statue of a woman at the feet of Mary (not pictured) on a man made rock formation to the side of the mission courtyard. I liked the shadows the tree cast over the stones. I thought the prayer candle left by someone was a thoughtful touch. It's quite a lovely area, even has a bench for peacful prayer.

I forgot to mention that there was a power cord running through the lower part of the image just above the candle. I had to clone my butt off to get rid of it, lol. Hope the rocks disguised my handywork;)

This is very lovely Jessica. It has great depth and wonderful lighting and has a good 'feel' to it. You captured it very well. While the prayer candle is very nice, I wish it was white ;) Very well done.

Nice cloning. I can't see any sign of it. I like this capture just the way it is. The prayer candle IMHO adds just enough color to make it interesting. The rock textures are a real boon also.

First of all, you did a wonderful job with the cloning. I certainly never would know had you not mentioned it. If a shot is blurry, nothing you do can make it more focused afterwards, but sometimes that isn't necessary. Sometimes it even becomes a more significant image due to its softness and being slightly out of focus. The imagery portrayed here by the supplicating figure is perhaps more ethereal because it is not as absolutely focused as some others would like it to be. This emphasizes more the activity involved in praying. Photographs certainly have their rules of composition and design, but art doesn't always have to conform ridgedly to these standards. Were that true, we would never have had any Monet's, Chagalls, O'Keefes, etc.
I like this photo for its representation, its composition and it really is not so out of focus either. Those rocks are very interesting too. Good work, Jessica.

It looks pleny sharp to me. I think you did a great job with the composition. The only thing I might have done post download is to clone out that candleholder. With the rest of the image being so earthy, it just draws the eye and creates antagonism. anne :-)

Don't tell me it's good, tell me what is good about it. Don't tell me it stinks, tell me what I can do do improve it. Thank you for taking the time to tell me anything at all. Be blessed. anne :-)
