First of a few images from Chartres Cathedral, France. These are all vertical in orientation, but that's gothic architecture for you, it just goes on up. The building itself is hauntingly beautiful, very dim with patches of coloured light from the windows giving wonderful shadows. I am not sure any of these images do it justice.

I'm not sure any any one could capture a photo that could do such Grand architecture justice! Those columns and arches are amazing. I never would have guessed the scale without the little people down there.
