This image shows a mural painting in the Maria Magdalena church in Goes, a small town in Zeeland, the Netherlands. Images in this series aren't meant to reflect my belief. They'll show you only some - to me, and hopefully to you as well - interesting/cultural aspects of some Zeeland places of worship.

I really like this. Lot to look at and absorb. Very colorful and bright which tells me a lot about painter. Good post.

Oh wow, what a beautiful image. Its a bit like Italy, where the most famous artists of their days worked for the church, since it had the most money for art.

My first question would be as to the symbolism of the implements at Christ's feet. You did a wonderful job of capturing the color and detail of the mural.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
