Cornelius ... very nice shot.

Hope you don't mind, as I would like to pose a question, if I may.

Viewed at more regular monitor size resolutions, the sharpening performed ... works well. Only at the highest resolutions, does it become more noticeable. So ...

When performing your post processing or editing, is this something you consciously keep in mind?

And I ask you here ... humbly, I might add ... and most certainly not as an affront to your photographic talents ... for the benefit of your viewers and other members.

/\ Hope you don't mind, as I am curious.

Carrying on ...

Again, a very nice shot. Good composition, making wonderful use of the naturally occurring lines within frame and that of this beautiful landscape.

An opportune time to shoot this scenery. As I quite enjoy the colour contrasts between that of the landscape and the blue sky.

Well done. And but of course, thank you for sharing this one with us. :o)

Reading Les (Purmusic) his comment above, I've sent him this message:

Hello Les,

Thanks for your comment.

Will try to give you an answer.
All my images are captured in RAW. As I have a Nikon D-80 body, they are called NEF images by Nikon. So I have to edit every image before uploading it to Caedes. Have wo photo-editors. Will explain you why. As Adobe PS2 isn't compatible with NEF I have to do my first editing with Adobe PS Elements 6. As part of this 'first editing' I have to sharpen the image and to do some noise reduction. I'm doing this with my image enlarged to 400%. When I've done this, the image is converted into the PNG format. When necessary I will do some further editing/post processing of this PNG-format image in Adobe PS2. Don't however change the sharpness of the image again. When ready, the image is stored on a hard drive in JPEG format, ready for uploading. Of course I'm watching my image before uploading at my screen (a 19" LCD monitor) and it must be good in my opinion, else it's deleted. After uploading I show my wife often my recently uploaded posts. She has a brandnew laptop with a wider screen.
You were saying in your message that when viewed at more regular monitor size resolutions, the sharpening performed ... works well. Only at the highest resolutions, does it become more noticeable.
By watching my images at both monitors I was never awared of this. What should I do? When I choose a different sharpness for my future images, I won't have fully control over it (I can't see what other people will see on their monitor), so I have some fear that I'm offering Caedes people not the best possible quality, but on the other hand, I have to realise that I have a problem. Don't know what's the best way how to resolve it.
Would you be so kind Les to give me some advice. Thank you in advance.
Kind regards, Cornelius.

PS: I'm curious what Caedes friends are thinking about it. Any advice is welcome! Thanks in advance for your honest opinion.
Kind regards again, Cornelius

Hello Cornelius, I think this is beautiful in the regular monitor size but I did try viewing in the fullest size also. It does not look as beautiful and is some distortion.

Just an idea here - perhaps when uploading not offering such a large size? When I upload mine I stay with a smaller size 1680x1120 is the ususal size. Not sure if this is the answer but thought I would suggest it. I had not noticed that before in your images but then I don't choose the largest size offered. I would like to say again that this is a beautiful image and a fine addition to this series. This would be the kind of place I hang out at. =^..^= sandi ♪

Beautifully composed view of the reserve. I especially enjoy the colors and textured contrasts. Love this perspective following the trees. Saved as well.

A short addendum to my comments above, as Cornelius and myself have started a dialogue of sorts in PMs.

My thoughts and in viewing the larger and specifically, the largest resolution size available ... has it's roots in the thought of going to print. Simply put.

As Sandi mentions and notes above ... and I concur, at regular monitor resolution sizes, the sharpening is not noticeable anywhere near to the extent of viewing the largest size.

It is indeed a very picturesque setting, well-composed and very pleasant to view. :o)

Wonderful Scape once again Mr.C
I could swear it was taken here in Lou-z-ana.

Read your comment with Les.
What you need to process your RAW/NEF images with is Capture NX 2. The price is a little High but worth the Money. Corel Paint Shop Pro Ultimate Photo X2 will handle NEF Files as well for Half the cost. I use both in processing my NEF Files.
Hope this may be of some help to you. Have A Great Weekend !

Cornelius, first let me say it is a beautiful picture.. and I like it! At the highest resolution I see that the quality changed. Because I am a beginner with editing I don´t give any suggestion.. you are the one that learned me good thinks. So I only can say straight from my heart that it is a great composition.. And a composition like this deserves quality, but I know the next time we will see it for sure. Good luck my friend.. Mich.

Cornelius...I have a 21" Widescreen Monitor, and your images...this one included...look sharp to me. Like I stated in a comment yesterday, your skies are smooth with no grain, and look natural. The resolution I use is 1680x1050. That size fills the entire screen, and your images appear focused and detailed. I am envious of the clarity of your shots and, the natural looking colors. I applaud your talents. Hope this helps, as my eyesight is excellent for a man of 59 years. LOL. Keep up the great work.

If I read it right, Les says it is fine for wallpapers, but it you were going to really enlarge it for print there is some distortion. Therefore, I think since this is a wallpaper site, your images are fine. I have always admired how well they are presented. I know you are a meticulous individual and would not be satisfied with anything but your best. They always look fine on my screen. I think EJ and Les can help far more than I can. I have enjoyed them immensely and will continue to do so.
Good health to you and yours.

Cornelius, I've checked a lot of your images in your galery after reading the comments and checking this post, but almost every post has a great quality. So I think it is just in this image. Did you edit it the same way like the other images. If somebody post quality you are. Mich

Another beautiful capture, of the Rammekenshoek
Cornelius. The textures and colours are truly great. On my screen (1280 x 1024) it looks great. If you want you could leave the 3000 size and take only the next lower size as the highest.
