This is the sculpture of Frans Naerebout (1748-1818) at the sea front in Flushing, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

Frans Naerebout was not only an excellent pilot but a brave rescuer of shipwrecked as well (he rescued 487 people on several events). In Holland we have still nowadays the saying 'Onverschrokken Naerebout'. It's said to a person who has courage and is fearless.

Hope you'll like this image. Thanks in advance for your comment.

The sculptor has done justice to "unerschrocken" Naerebout with this statue Cornelius. He looks fearless. Nice capture with the sea and the pilot boat as backdrop.

Great tribute to a hero and wonderful that they placed him looking towards the sea. I also like the boat which adds to the interest. Great composition.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
