Saturday June 3rd, and Sunday June 4th, 2017, 141 singing choirs were hosted in the medieval town of Middelburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands. They performed on various, most historic, places their repertoire. The public interest was high.
Of course, I had to make a choice and have selected some of their performances. I've enjoyed it very much. I also have tried to take some pictures. The latter however, wasn't that easy because of the restrictive circumstances. This is the first picture of the, on this occasion by me taken, mini series. It shows a choir that performs on the historic marketplace of Middelburg. The medieval town hall was the perfect 'backdrop'.
The festival had the name 'Volkoren'. In the Dutch language 'Volkoren' can be interpreted in two ways:
1. The name of a loaf of bread, baked with not refined grain (whole grain bread);
2. (a town) full of choirs.
That building is a stunner for the architecture behind the choir...and the audience seems enthralled sitting there too!
