This image shows in the distance a part of the storm surge barrier in the Eastern Scheldt estuary, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

If you check-out this link, think you will understand the title of this capture.

PS 1: February 1st, it was 66 years ago that my area was flooded too. We (our family) were rescued in an ice cold night. 1836 people drowned however by this North Sea Flood! Although I was a young boy then, I'll never forget what has happened.

PS 2: if you check-out THIS LINK you'll see the storm surge barrier in a bird's-eye perspective.

On the surface a lovely seascape and then the narrative adds extra depth and meaning.
A valuable addition to your gallery Cornelius

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I too read of this tragedy from your links as I was only slightly over 1 years of age when this happened. That must have been a terrifying experience for you and your family. That's an impressive barrier and I hope global warming does not cause further problems such as you experienced.

You and Prof. Knik, are not only great photographers, but wonderful teachers as well. This would be a good one for a Photojournalist Category, should we ever get one. I'm glad you and your family escaped the North Sea Flood.
Is the threat of "Global Warning" a large concern in your part of the world? Sometimes things don't affect us until they "hit home," with us, our family or friends.
Thanks for this photo with its different layers of beauty and information.

---Is the threat of "Global Warning" a large concern in your part of the world?---

In answer to Owd Fella Tick (OFT) his above forwarded question, I like to say that it's almost a daily issue in our newspapers and TV-channels in Holland now. Please check-out this link for a more proper impression.

Such a traumatic event in your life Cornelius. I'm sorry for all that happened. Glad they worked on it to make it safer. Though the information overshadows your image I have to say it is a very pretty shoreline scene.
