Due to the Covid-19 (Corona) pandemic, I can't go out for an outdoors photo shoot.
My alternative is to provide you with some photographs from the 'bin'.
This image shows the STV (Sail Training Vessel) 'Astrid', leaving the port of Flushing, Zeeland, The Netherlands, on her way to Southampton, UK.
The 'Astrid' was built in 1918 as a lugger. In 1999/2000 the 'Astrid' was converted into a traditional, luxury sailing vessel.
She (as ships are female) departed from Southampton on July 14th, 2013 and was due to arrive in Cherbourg, Seine-Maritime, France on July, 28th, as part of a European Union International Exchange program. She was one of 50 vessels participating in Ireland's 2013 Gathering Cruise between Oysterhaven and Kinsale, Ireland.
'Astrid' suffered from the lack of propulsion due to an engine failure which prevented her from pulling herself off the rocks, and therefore was stranded on July 24th, 2013 at the rocky coast of Ireland, sank subsequently with all (30 persons) on board rescued. She was salvaged on September 9th, 2013, but as the cost of restoring her was too high, she was scrapped and broken up by April 2014.
When I took this capture of the 'Astrid', I didn't realize that she was sailing outward bound on her (not meant) last voyage.
