According to Wikipedia, the 'Lange Jaap' ('Tall Jack'), also known as 'Kijkduin Light' or 'Den Helder Light', is an active lighthouse near Fort Kijkduin (Fortress Kijkduin) in Huisduinen, The Netherlands.

At a height of 55 meters (182 ft) it is one of the tallest traditional lighthouses in the world.

For almost a century (from 1878 to 1974) it was the tallest lighthouse in the Netherlands, until the construction of the Maasvlakte Light.

I loved the aerial shot of Tall Jack provided on your link. So much open land around the lighthouse, something, I guess, I just wasn't expecting. I also enjoyed seeing the town in your picture. Made me feel as though I was actually standing on the hillside looking down at Tall Jack and the adjoining town.

Tall Jack certainly lives up to its name :)
The triangular roof angles add great interest to this scene

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Tall Jack towers over all the buildings and so well clear of the other lights at night. Beautiful view well captured Cornelius.

Whoa, Tall Jack is amazing and I am assuming all the land around it is owned by the light house / government. I bet the view from up there would be a amazing.

Gorgeous view and love the view of the town surrounding Big Jack

Lange Jaap is inderdaad een flinke knaap ! I would like to climb the stairs (or rather the elevator) to enjoy the breathtaking view up there. It is always impressive to see how the Netherlands is protected from the sea by enormous dunes.Very nice view,Cornelius!
