In order to capture this walking Blue or Grey Heron (see my 'edit' below) - apparently on its way to the 'fishing grounds' - I had to play 'peek-a-boo'. Therefore the grasses on the foreground are blurred. Photographers call this phenomenon 'bokeh' however. 😁 !

Edit: There may be some confusion about what's a blue or grey heron. When I check-out the Dutch wiki page for a blue heron, this result is shown. When I click in the left column of this page for the English version, this result is shown however. Remarkable is that the title of the page is changed from 'Blauwe reiger' (Blue heron) into 'Grey heron'. Strange and confusing to me.

I was curious on how to tell the difference between blue heron vs grey. It is the neck. The grey heron has a distinctive grey neck. See what you did to me this morning, Mr C. I had to put my coffee cup down and google herons and get educated.

BTW, what an outstanding picture of the heron - wonderful detail and focus.

The grasses in the foreground Cornelius are just fine and really add a nice touch of color and depth to your image of the heron on his way to get a bite to eat - Great Capture!!!

I would have called it a blue heron so I learned something from John's research too! I really like this shot Mr. C. as I feel as if I'm hiding behind the grasses seeing the heron.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
