The sun was setting over The Gulf of Mexico. We were having a picnic and I had just gotten a new camera for my birthday. I wanted to see what I could do with it.
The different shades of yellow and gold are just beautiful. And I like the position of the sun, not being centered looks much better than otherwise (in my opinion).
Pretty good. Funny how this shot made me think of tequila instantly ;) As mia pointed out the sun not being centered is a good choice in the overall choices of your composition. One of the reason as to why the sun slightly to the right looks better...the horizontal split of the photo is almost exactly centered visually.(The darker contrast of the water holds it together.) You?ve also avoided setting up a "cross" or "X" type composition, which is a good thing as far as design elements go. (ends up forcing the viewers eyes to a particular location on the picture plane.) You did an implied one which gently and easily moves the viewers eyes. Please allow me a suggestion for improvement...if the water part of the photo was a little more focused or sharper you could have gotten the effect of molten gold below the sky. Keep at it crickett :)
