"Lagoon of Fire" is a caldera lagoon on the island of São Miguel in the Açores, Portugal. The body of water sits in the remnants of a stratovolcano and is often draped in low lying clouds and fog, hence the name. This results in the lush slopes where a young French pilot once crashed his single-prop engine. I absolutely love this location. (Taken with a Minolta Maxxum 4000si film SLR.)

Wow, this is a beautiful perspective... I love how the clouds just roll over the mountain... such beautiful natural colours :D

I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum. How can you be gloomy when the sun shines out your bum? *runs off into distance giggling*

Beautiful shot. I love the gloominess and the colors, but most of all, I like the perspective, like Gem.

Good shot, well composed. The eye is nicely drawn up the hill, along the closest fissure, and then down the skyline to come back along the shore of the lagoon. Lots of detail and good colours. Thanks for posting.

How do you Know I'm Mad? I must be, otherwise you wouldn't have come here.
