Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm...I like the glass window but I don't like the ugly colored material surrounding it (brown bricks or shingles or whatever it is). I woinder what this would look like with all that cropped out or least most of it? That would have a person up close and peering right into the window. I also like the fact that there is some detail to be seen thru the glass. Yep, I think that is what I would do....crop out most of that ugly brown and just leave a little bit. What do you think?
Otherwise, a great shot. If only old deserted houses could speak and tell their stories of better years...
The 'shingles' well, I saw houses like that when I lived in South Louisiana..and it's a kind of tar paper stuff just like we put on roofs. It was cheap back then, and it lookedlike brick, so people put it on. IT actually kept the little houses much warmer. I think the siding and the window and the curtain just put the whole thing together real well. I like it a lot. Its sad, and forlorn, but it makes me really think of how hard life must have been...I think this photo has major character...not like some of the 'new' stuff...this is reality...thank yu for posting it...Verena
Don't want to meet the cat that sharpened its claws on those curtains for sure...LOL. Seriously, I think you have completely captured the feeling of despair with all the ingredients of this image. Great job!
A tar paper shack. This place was sad even way back when. I find a lot of these places to shoot but not a lot of fabric left so that's a bonus. Odd that it's still so white and the patterns still obvious. Nice shot
This is a great picture. Viewing it at different moments I get different feelings... the sense of age and abandonment; the feeling of the barest echo of the life this place once held...
and lastly... this flickering thought of something being inside that shredded the fabric trying to get out. (Sorry about that last one!)
