Good contrast and light difference from those two lamps. An interesting shot, indeed you've seen a great picture that others would not see, good work :)

I was asked to give a comment on this photo. Keep in mind ,please, that this is the viewpoint of an untrained, amateur person! With that, I give you my opinion.

I liked the image instantly! As alluded to before by our two other viewers above, the ability of the photographer to change such a common, ordinary scene into an artistic shot is admirable. I am sure if I was going up that staircase, I would not pause even for a second! Yet, looking at the photo, you get hooked!
Technically, it appears to me that the original image has had a trip to Photoshop or some other beauty salon! Not that it decreases the value of the outcome in the least. The contrast of the colours right and left is striking, yet smooth. The indifference of the photographer to some of the occupants of the scene (the ones behind the railing, the mirror, etc.) serves to stress the more important elements, i.e. the lamps, the staircase, and of course, the contrast between the walls. Overall, I'd say this is a very clever shot, quite pleasing to the eye!

Sincerely,

Rokh
