May I be the first to say wow! An amazing action short with brilliant color and perfect exposure. A masterpiece for sure. The snow pattern on the rock looks like a snowman crashed into the rock.

Forgive me my curiosity here ... the sky? Gradient applied? Or??
Your image here, is of course, as those above me have commented ... beautifully coloured and well exposed. (I'll wait to hear back from you on the sky thing. :oP)
Caveats? Again, novice and humble opinion here ... compositionally, it works well with the title.
I do, however think that had you captured more of where the skier is going to land ... shift of camera position to the right ... would be more apt in depicting skiing ... as opposed to a natural ski ramp formation.
Even a possible portrait presentation ... might work. The thinking here is that some space is needed between your photo subjects ... and the framing. Vertical works for the 'rock' ... camera position shift, works for the skier. Just some thoughts, that's all.
Now then, that sky??
Just kidding.
I am one of your secret admirers, so please don't take my comments above as a slight in any way. This is the one time I felt that I could add something to the 'discussion'. :o)
A great frozen moment. Great colour and clarity. There may be something just outside the frame that would spoil the image but this crop does feel a bit cramped to me.
Peace,
Mikel.
boo, you cover the face of the skier with snow, and then you went out and bought new skis and boots so i don't recognize them. I think its you based on the coat, but i can't be sure. Let me know if it is.
Hi, thanks for the comments at elephant rock huck.
I wasnt taking the picture (thats me) so i didnt have control over the composition, this is already a slight composition between two pictures in order to gain a little perspective, and correct the horrible angle the shot was taken at. This is partially responsible for the difference in sky colour, although most of it was already there due to the use of a polarizer at about 90 degrees from the sun with a 10mm lens!
It was in drive mode, however i didnt really have a ton of speed coming into this one, and it had a really flat landing (so i didnt show it). It didnt end in the hospital, but i have canceled my squash and soccer games this week :(
It was really an unspectacular fall, one of my skis kinda burried its tip in the snow, and i stopped. now my knee hurts.

What a magnificent action photo!! Bravo on this one!! This is a fantastic shot, it must have taken some doing to hit this right at the precise moment. You weren't taking the picture ? I guess I don't get it..oh well..V
Caught this on the Front Page and had to comment. One of the best Action shots I've ever seen. It's not just the action that you froze so well, but the lighting, clarity and the composition. Very well done!
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
