I took this picture on Broadway in April 2008. I blured the background to make the street sign the focus.

Hey Stephany,

First, I'd love to give you a warm welcome here on Caedes, wish you lots of fun posting and commenting, (~8

I like the blurring a lot, it focuses the eye on what's really important here,
The subject is tilted slightly, I think the image might come out better if it were straight (vertically speaking), not sure,
Makes me remember the days I've spent searching for the street signs to find the proper direction whilst enjoying the warmth of a vibrant city, 8~)
Nicely done,

Kind regards
Tim

I keep coming back to this image, but have had difficulty pinpointing what it is about it that I like and don't. So I've waited to comment until now. I think the subject has alot of life. It is really interesting, and the focus on the object (and blurred background) really adds to that. It does appear that this was done by editing the image though, I wonder if you had used a wide aperture to give this effect if it would have been more effective. Also what if the top were not cut off? Or maybe try putting it off center (i.e. the rule of thirds).

This is a really interesting image, and you've definitely had success with something that often thwarts my photographic efforts, and that is subject, and theme. I often get too caught up in the technicalities of photography to the point where I lose sight of what or why I am taking a picture.

very nice photo! love the color. a couple suggestions i have would be to make sure you can see the rest of the light on top and then to maybe put it to the side a bit more so it's not quite in the center. good idea!
