Does look a little perturbed, doesn't it? I would like the image more if it was in focus. The blurred background may be intentional, but it's distracting to me.
I would agree with the above: if the angle of the background wasn't so interesting, it would warrant the blurriness; but I would like to see this in focus as well, simply because it is a great shot. But what expression is captured in this animal's face! Stunning.
The fact that the background is slightly out of focus is cool. It concentrates the viewers focus on the subject of the picture. The cute little face of that frog. And you put the perfect word to his look. The exact description I would have used.
He doesn't even look scared, just put out. Almost like he's saying, "What are you doing? Will you just put me back down, I have places to go, people to see, flies to eat!" He almost looks like he's disgusted with the whole idea of being picked up by a human. heh heh. Good picture, great idea, good placement, creative focus, cute subject. Keep it up!

The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking. - Brooks Anderson
