I looked through the comments you've received and I notice no one has answered the question you posed in the title. The subject is a child, somewhere in age between 7 and 10, possibly a boy because of the short hair but could also be a girl. He or she is balancing on their feet, chin on the knees, left arm wrapped around the knees, and playing with the sand in the right hand, looking down at the water lapping the sand and feet. I would guess your child, sibling, grandchild, or some other relationship. Nice photo by the way. Your eye is drawn immediately to the sun and then the slight tilt of the horizon line, like an oncoming wave, leads the eye to the child.
