This shot is of a special room within the Bloody Tower. (Formally Known as the Garden Tower). The Bloody Tower gets it's name from all the murderous events that took place in the Tower. The Princes in the Tower were said to have been murdered in the Bloody Tower. This room is there Sir Walter lived in "comfort" while imprisoned within the Tower of London. He was even allowed to have his wife live with him, his son Care was conceived and born in the Tower. It is said that Sir Walter Raleigh wrote the first volume of The Historie of the World (London, 1628) in this room.

Wow, that woodwork must have a ton of coats of lacquer on it... not uncommon for period pieces of this type. One of England's heroes, Raleigh was imprisoned more than once in the Tower, the last time ending in his beheading to appease the Spanish. I think it falls under the classic Dilbert statement of "work hard, be faithful - you'll get your just reward." This is a nice one, Jelly.

My late father was quite the antique buff and he bought and sold antiques for years. He would have liked this very much.
