Completed in 1894, the Tower Bridge spans Thames River in London, UK. It derives its name from its close proximity to the Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress The Tower of London (or simply, The Tower). This image was scanned from a picture I took July 4, 1987. It is part of an ongoing project to digitize some of my sentimental favorite images. The film (remember that stuff?) was Vericolor 120. The camera: Mamiya w/50mm lens, leaf shutter. Exposure was 1/100@f/16. Print made by Fox Foto. Thumbprint removal and spotting by yours truly.

I have seen a number of photos of this bridge and have loved every one of them, and this one is no exception. I have to commend you on your fine job of converting your film images to digital...they look great and even though styles of clothing and hair have come and gone...trust me...they'll be back in not too long a time.

I take it from your narrative this was recovered from a print and not a negative? Excellent!! Are you contemplating branching out?

This is really neat. I like the way the old films captured colors. Though the industry (photo) is careening toward all-digital 100% true color via computer, the nostalgia of film (older film, such as what you have here) is still very enticing. I doubt I will buy a film camera but I definitely try to apply color variations from time to time to achieve what you have here by just pushing the shutter button. Great work as always!!

Don, In the past I've made, on my world wide journeys, a lot of images/slides with relative good analog cameras. Some of them I've converted into the digital format with the aid of a good scanner. Although the slides were stored under optimal conditions, I was somewhat disappointed by the results as the colours were faded to a certain extend. Reading in your narrative that you've converted this from an, in 1987 captured, picture, I have to say the result is good (although I think I can see some colour fading as well) and defintively worth to keep it, the more this image has sentimental aspects to you. I only can say that I envy this result, lol.

I've seen many posts of this bridge, even taken a few shots of it, but this one is just great with the people on the lawn and that wonderful blue sky full of couds. You did a great job of digitizing it too.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

You did a great job when you took this picture Don, but an even better job in scanning...gerry

This is a most beautiful photo of the Tower Bridge. When I was ten years old I was in England...and I've never forgotten it.
You got such a gorgeous sky filled with precious clouds here. The whole photo is just filled with a royal feeling. Nice stuff that's for sure. And you live in DFW? I lived in Grapevine for a while!!... And welcome to caedes!! Verena
