Mexico was founded as Mexico-Tenochtitlan in 1325 by the Nahua Aztec.According to legend Mexico City was located on a small island in the middle of Lake Texcoco, after a chieftain saw an eagle with a snake in his mouth land on the rock.

Taking this as a sign from the gods, the Aztecs began building the capital for their nation on the tiny island. The location of the city forced the Aztecs to build an artificial island and create a series of canals to allow the growth of a great metropolis. The reverse of this 1932 Peso contains the image of the Eagle ns snake on the rock, the official coat of arms for the United States of Mexico.

Enjoy.

I like how you have the flag behind these two coins, it sets them off really well. Nice capture!

Nice shot Don! Like Ann, I think you've done a great job superimposing the coin on the flag! Thanks for the info as well; very interesting!
