The Roman bath at Chester's ancient Roman fort, also known by Rome as Cilurnum, facing southeast at a low oblique angle to provide an overall view of the floor plan.

Garrison personnel first entered the dressing room to the left and proceeded to a small bath to the south. From there is a cold room with a cold bath to the east and the Warm Room to the south. Moving west from the warm room past the boiler to the hot bath. Following the hot bath, patrons moved north through a small lobby, turned left, entering a small anteroom then right into the hot dry room.

Note the stoke hole for heating the air for the drying room.

You're seeing it all it would appear. Thanks for the links and this is a really fine shot of the ancient bath and the river beyond. Those Romans left their mark in so many places and they must have been good builders because so much of their ruins remain.

This is really something when you think that those were the timed when other people believed that having a bath is dangerous for your health! Great shot and description!

A fascinating subject Don
But this place looks a bit neglected, perhaps I should pop down the local Bath Spa instead. Lol (You not find me down at that tourist rat trap !!) it was shut in 1978 when a women died from Legionnaires disease. :o(
Thanks 4 sharing

Great pic Don! You're right about the thing being well-preserved! One thinks this was built rather recently!
