Dealing with hybrids from time to time, I realize that a recessive gene can creep in. The bright red crepe myrtle hybrid is no exception. There was definitely a white crepe in this guy's genealogy.

Enjoy. (Yes, John, the antique 50mm EF rides again.)

Oh Don, we don't have the Crepe Myrtles up here in Oregon, and i had forgotten there was such a thing, til just now when I saw your most lovely photo!! What an outstanding colour and yes, they little blossoms sure do look like popcorn, wouldn't it be fun to have red popcorn? Maybe I'll try something like that..I love popcorn, and if I melt the Cinnamon Red Hots, and put it in a bit of butter, I bet that would taste great on the popcorn. I will name it Don's Crepey Popcorn!!ROFL!!!!! See? Don? I made myself smile that time..but it was with your lovely photo..thankies hun...verena

Beautiful shot, Don. I have noticed this phenomenon often with dahlias.

This is lovely Don. I have never seen one of these plants before, it really is something, with or without a little gene intrusion!! Well done!

It makes me smile to see the blush of pink. Actually I am reminded of an incident in a high school English class between to twins which resulted in one showing similar colors.
