The Rose of Sharon bush, or Althea, is a member of the hibiscus family. The climate is most favorable for growing in USDA plant hardiness zones 5-9. Rose of Sharon is a deciduous flowering shrub. This variety grows to a height of 10-12 feet.

I really love the contrast between the pinkiness and dark leaves in the background. I also love the bright red splash of colour in the middle although it almost looks like its bleeding.

Great post Don. Wonderful colours and contrast. We have a similar hibiscus in our garden. The only pity is that the hibiscus flowers are gone that quickly.
