John F. Kennedy Memorial
Market Street/Commerce Street
Dallas, Texas,USA

This simple, concrete memorial to President Kennedy dominates a square in downtown Dallas 200 yards east of Deeley Plaza, where the President was assassinated. It is a space for contemplation, neither open nor closed. The 50 foot square enclosure with 30 foot high concrete walls, open in the center of the north and south, and along almost all of the base.

In the center is a black square granite slab, simply inscribed with the President's name.

"Not a memorial to the pain and sorrow of death, but a permanent tribute to the joy and excitement of one man's life." -- Philip Johnson 1970

A rather unusual Memorial but I like the idea of the simplicity. Good capture, Don.

If practice makes perfect and nobody is perfect, then why practice?

Yeah, it looks like a refrigerator and expresses how they feel about JFK. It does capture your attention in the scene though. Good photograph.

A simple yet complex device to inspire the contemplation you spoke of.

I'm going to have to agree with Cindy. :(

In a strange way it is also a comment on the future, on our time. At first I thought it was storage containers, the kind that are destined for large transport ships.

Great shot of it, though.

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
