This is a very old burnt down house in an area near to where i stay. They are just about to knock it down and build a new house, so i went and took some pics. It also seems like its a hide out for some kids, and i doubt they going to be to happy about their loss :) Oh well

~ My mind immediately goes to what the place must have looked like new and the people who may have lived there. Very interesting shot depicting the graffiti stained ruins of an old manor house... with that fireplace & those once beautiful windows.

Sad about the house but it makes for a very cool and thought provoking shot.

This is a fabulous shot DMK! Believe it or not, my son and I discussed this shot for nearly half an hour about 2:00 am (sleepless in Duluth!). I'll share with you some of our thoughts below.
The house must have been a posh, opulent one (judged by the number of windows, their height, and by the once-splendid fireplace). It must have been quite a place in its heydays. We imagined the dances, dinners, laughters,...that must have taken place there.
It has been in this state of ruin for quite a while: plants growing inside through the window frame and then drying up, numerous graffiti,...It obviously has seen many a teenager in it.
The shot brings everything to view so vivid and strong. Pardon me for saying this but I can even smell the bad odors too!
Finally, after reading JQ's note, I noticed your initials mixed with the graffiti on the wall. Very clever!
All in all, this is a wonderful shot! Great job, and thx!

Hello
:) I don't blame them that they are not home.. I'd run away too. But a great capture of this old building. I was also thinking while viewing the pic that it must've been a very beautiful house at one stage. And I love the rock work around the fireplace. Great job.

i love this shot. it tells a story that you can't get anywhere else. it is a real shame that this beautiful home burnt and no one had the heart to restore it.
