My first submission to Caedes.net and my first try at an artistic photo. Took a normal photo and added a bunch of different effects in photoshop including noise, masks, textures, etc. Trying to go for an antique look.

Very good, but to tell you the truth, this would be a winner if it was black and white, or sepia. Then it would really look like an antique picture. Nice first post.

I agree with Jim. I also think if you are trying to achieve an antique effect, you might be better to just use b&w or sepia. I am not sure the graininess and the noise does much for the photo. I think the idea, though, is very interesting. I look forward to seeing more of your work in future.

I've been playing around with muted color, I think it's fine. My issue with this is more the composition and the picture itself not the post processing.

Hi Billy. Welcome. Personally, my approach to Photoshop is using it to remove distracting elements and I haven't experimented with all those filters. But I think you did a good job implementing your concept. For better (antique) lighting, I would give up the flash and get outside during the first/last hour of sunlight. Or pose your subject in a (north) window.
