Yellow flowers like a dandelion tend to oversaturate in bright sunlight, red roses do the same, and you have to compensate by dropping down an f stop or set -2/3ev on the camera. Some cameras are more prone to this that others. The other advantage is that you would darken the background as well enhancing the effect you were after of concentrating on the flower rather than the scene. Other colours are also a little too saturated and I find my eye being drawn to the bright mountains only to find them blurred and not the subject.

All that said, the idea is a good one, and a novel way to show a mountain scene.

Have you thought of using Hyperfocal technique for a shot like this?

Thank you for the thoughts and ideas! I am unaware of the Hyperfocal technique, I will do my best to look into it.

Thanks!
