I was out taking a few pictures on a grid road on the weekend trying out a new 300mm lens. I looked up and there she was, just across the road and apparently unconcerned by my presence. Her ears as super sharp as you can imagine. Every time I pushed the shutter button, she shot her head up to look at me and then went back to grazing. The shutter is relatively quiet and would not likely be noticed at all by a human at that distance or even closer. The mule deer doe finally hopped the fence and wandered off. It's amazing how they can jump so effortlessly and so high from a standing take-off.
