This was taken 2 years ago in Traverse City. I just loved the way the chairs and shoreline mixed well. What do you think? No adjustments have been made to the photo.
The visual rhythm of the chairs is quite captivating. The cropping on the bottom leaves the impression they might go on forever. Along with the shoreline, the chairs lead the eye to the horizon which needs attention because it looks off-level. Nothing a slight rotation in Photoshop couldn't fix. Very nice composition.
I like the black and white of this (It really makes the chairs pop and makes the picture) I would have to agree with edoctober that the Horizon needs attention. Photoshop can fix it, but if you want a free quick alternative go DL picasa ( http://picasa.google.com/ ) you'll have to create a google account but that's not a big deal. It's a quick and easy photo editor. It obviously can't do everything Photoshop can, but I like to use it for my point and shoot personal photos and to straighten horizons. Good Luck ;)
I do like the chairs and the sand and the composition (apart from the sky).
The thin sliver of bright light of the sky moves the eye away from the chairs/sand and doesn't add anything to the image so I would crop it out. In general, thin bits top and bottom do not work. This is not a hard and fast rule, but a thin bit of bright sky lifts the observers eye upward, and in this case away from the chairs. Also the tilt, as has been said above, does need to be addressed.
