I went back one more time to the place the herons hang out and as luck would have it, they were there. I couldn't resist just one more picture of these guys so here it is, Hope you guys like it.

super portrait and all the details are in such sharp depiction
as ever in portraits the eyes have it
(unless youre breaking the rule, eyes must be in sharpest focus!)
the 1/3rds created by the shines / turbulence in the water makes to break up what might have been a solid background

Very nice & clear; near perfect clarity! Every detail on this are clearly visible right down to the feathers & texture of the legs! Excellent shot & the framing looks good too! Great job!! Very high marks if I get it in the booth!

I'm so glad you listened to that little voice in your head and went back Don.This is just a superb photo of this heron. I like your framing. It gives the photo here a vertical look emphasizing on the bird only and not the surroundings. Very nicely composed and one heck of a shot. Congrats!
