A fine shot Don...but I am going to be brutal...the frame has to go, I don't know whether to look at the frame or the bird. Give you a hint...the bird is much better looking.

I agree. In fact, I think you could easily crop this to eliminate the need for a frame, and accentuate the subject:the bird.

Great shot Don! I hate to be a party pooper too, but I feel the frame looks very out of place. I'd prefer to see it without it.

Wish I could tell you what it was. My first thought was a hawk but it isnt colored as the ones around here are so I'm not sure. It is a nice shot whatever it is Don! You've heard enough about the frame so I wont chime in. lol At least it's an easy enough one to fix!

It doesn't have the hooked beak of a hawk or an eagle. I'm inclined to think it's a crow. Crows are surprisingly large, up close, and definitely noisy.

Could even be a raven. They're in most of Canada, excluding the part that juts down between Michigan and New York.

The rainbow colors definitely draw attention away from the bird of prey...If you're going to use a background...use a solid color of some kind, preferrably a darker one...Good capture, otherwise...

I think it's a crow too Don, but whatever it is you're capture is beautiful and the frame takes to much attention away from that fact I think, it's a very good shot though my friend !!

Very well done on the bird, Don; I really like the composition of the photo. I do agree about the frame being too powerful for it. Great capture!

nice find, but I agree that both the frame is distracting and the picture is not centered in it as it should be

The clarity and composition of the bird is awesome Don and it's a great capture. You already know the rest of it. ;)

a crow perhapes because he is black but nevertheless it is a great shot of a flying bird and that is difficult enough to take one

Yep .. that's a Crow, or a Raven. Big and noisy, and jet black.
Good capture of him.

Here are some Crow and Raven sounds you can listen to to see if they sound like him

A wonderful capture of this bird - excellent in fact, and I particularly like the grey sky which gives it a slightly ominous feel. I wonder how it would look in B/W.
I won't make mention of the frame :)

Yup - as a " bird woman" I would say crow or raven - don't know where you took this - and yes - needs new frame - would really love to see closer detail of mostly bird. But on a GOOD note - you caught it at a good angle - showing a bird in flight - not always easy to do.
