Normally find pictures of flowers too similar to be interesting, but there's something here that... captured my eyes and held them. It made me explore the outside of the bud, then it enticed me into following the crisp edges of the petals, then it sent me inside the flower, where something unimaginable and unseen glowed... I think that the minimal focus gave it something that so many images of flowers lack: mystery. It really is a vessel filled with light, but you can't clearly see what's inside that is giving off the glow. Wow.

The depth of field on this makes the image. Keeping just the front petals in focus, whether by design or happy accident, adds an unusual feeling to the shot. The colour combination is just stunning. A good artistic interpretation of a simple subject.
