Well no doubt as a small child you were still trying to piece the facts of life together and none of them fit here..:) but all in all it is a nice piece of art, not intended for children to understand.. you are forgiven *smile*
"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web." Pablo Picasso
This would be Romulus and Remus. Legend is that they were twin sons of the god Mars, and suckled by a wolf. Romulus killed Remus, and founded the Roman Empire, naming it after himself.
I was in Rome a few months back and saw the original statue of Romulus and Remus. It was a magnificant piece. As mentiond by Sailorman ancient Rome realy began after Romulus killed his brother and named it after himself. Rome flourised and became one of the most powerful cities in the world.
Romulus and Remus allright. I wonder what went through your head when looking at it a young age :-) It must have looked to be a strange statue back then :-)
At least now you know what the origine of the statue is :-) Coming to the picture itself now, well you did a great job here.
I am very pleased that you did not use a flash here, since the image would have been ruined, now all details clearly show. The background is great, since it does not draw attention at all. At first i though that the statue is made of ivory, but i also see a shine that ivory lacks, what kind of material is it ?
