I tried editing this and using sharpness and messing around with the color. The was my first time using all of the "extras". How did I do?

Thumbnail size does not do your image here justice. You managed to retain (kudos to your base shot, or, in other words ... you) a great amount of detail.
And I like your composition.
Works well to my eyes on all levels.
Hope you don't mind me stating so and reiterating again, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened your image full view.
