An eco cruise operates on Bruny Island which takes you right up to the base of the cliffs. I was fascinated by the wet black rocks and the waves swirling around them, exposing the bull kelp clinging to their sides.
I love Bull kelp, we have a lot of that washing up to the shore here in Oregon. I know how deep they are in the sea too. I knew of a scuba diver once that told me they are sometimes fifty feet long, hanging down into the ocean. And at the very bottom of the kelp there would be a "bulb" hanging there. Amazing underwater plants. And then they wash ashore. I know they are edible, but never knew what to do with them, and how freshly washed ashore they had to be. I love the contrast you captured here, with the softness and colour of the kelp against the wonderful dark colour of the sharp huge rocky cliff. And then to have the drama of the splash of the water against that, it's just wonderful. I love the action you captured here. It is one probably my most favorite photos of your at this time. Just lovely!! Verena
