Nelson Falls is normally a gorgeous wall of water tumbling some 30m in an upside down wine glass shape. Situated between Derwent Bridge and Queenstown, it's only a 20-minute return walk to experience this waterfall and provides a good stretch for the legs as you drive the Lyell Highway through the largely undeveloped Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park in the Tasmanian Wilderness. In times of low water flow it resembles a hanging garden.
