Almost every country town in Australia has a Commercial Hotel. This one is situated in the Victorian town of Beechworth. It is Beechworth’s oldest surviving hotel, dating back to 1852, originally built after gold was discovered. In 1873 it was bought by Thomas Tanswell, who added a second level to the hotel and dubbed it “Tanswells Commercial Hotel”. Tanswell’s hotel is now what it was then, a Beechworth landmark that sits proudly in the centre of town.

Glad they didn't tear it down Frank. It looks good with the sky and clouds. Is the food good?

Very interesting image Frank and a ditto narrative. This hotel has the appearance of a hotel as can be see in Western movies. Perhaps Thomas Tanswell had his roots in Texas, lol.

Regards, Cornelius.
