These wonderful horses were earning their keep hauling a stage coach for tourists in the Old Port area of Echuca. Until the advent of the railways, stage coaches played an important role in transportation in Austalia. Cobb & Co was established in 1853 by 4 Americans. By 1870, Cobb & Co. coach routes criss crossed Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Every week they travelled 28,000 miles and every day drivers harnessed up 6,000 horses.
